Moisture Barrier Bag

Moisture Barrier Bags provide shielding for moisture and ESD sensitive devices. When choosing a moisture barrier bag there are two main specifications you need to consider, the puncture resistance and the Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR). The lower the MVTR the more effective the bag is at preventing water vapour from being transmitted. It is the Foil bags (Dri-Shield® series 3000, 3400 and 3700) that have the lowest MVTR. For a full comparison on our moisture barrier bags visit our SCS Moisture Barrier Bag Selection Chart.

2000Series image

Low Barrier Aluminium Bag

Dri-Shield® 2000 Series Moisture Barrier Bag

The most cost-effective moisture barrier bag, its two layers of aluminized polyester form a barrier to moisture and ESD. Its Puncture Strength Average is >20 lb and its Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR) is /10/100 sq. in./24 hrs.

Application:

Disk drive

General barrier packaging

High Barrier Foil Bag

Dri-Shield® 3400 Series Moisture Barrier Bag

The most cost-effective high barrier foil option, manufactured to provide moisture barrier protection that follows JEDEC J-STD-033 standards and has a high puncture resistance of >20lb. Its Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR) is /10/100 sq. in./24 hrs.

Application:

Devices (ICs, PWB (bare))

IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033

Desiccant

Desiccant Packs

Use Desiccant Packs in Moisture Barrier Bags to absorb moisture. Provides protection for moisture sensitive electronics (such as SMT - Surface Mount Technology), best practice is to use with a Humidity Indicator Card.

Recommended amount of desiccant is dependent on the interior surface area of the bag to be used, see EIA-583, Table 1; our Desiccant Calculator will help you estimate how much desiccant your application requires.

Can be baked and re-used.

No hazardous substances.

Humidity Indicator Cards

HIC image

Humidity Indicator Cards (HICs)

Measure the level of relative humidity exposed to packaged contents. The humidity indicator spots will change colour as the relative humidity changes in the volume of air surrounding the indicator. They are an integral part of a complete moisture barrier packaging assembly; they ensure dehydration measures work with an immediate visual inspection.

Common use in dry packaging or semiconductor and electronic devices.

Available in Standard of Cobalt-Free.

Labels

Labels

113LABEL

Used on moisture barrier bags to identify moisture sensitive devices for levels 2, 2a, 3, 4, 5, and 5a as defined by JEDEC J-STD-033B and J-STD-020. Permanent Adhesive for one-time use when the label will remain intact and never be removed.

Resistance Testing

Digital Surface Resistance Meter Kit

A surface resistance meter measures resistance point-to-point (Rp-p) and resistance-to-ground (Rg) of worksurfaces, flooring systems, garments, packaging, and other materials.

In this case, it determines the resistance of the inner and outer layer of the bag to ensure it is within the specified requirements.

ConcentricRingProbe image

Concentric Ring Probe

Measures surface resistance per ANSI/ESD STM11.11 and IEC 61340-2-3, and volume resistance of planar materials per ANSI/ESD STM11.12 and IEC 61340-2-3.

Maintains consistent contact between the fixture's conductive rings and material under test.

To be used with the 19290 Digital Surface Resistance Meter.
